Genetic Breeding

Genetic Bulldog Breeders Association

A Genetic Breeder's main goal is to improve the breed by producing healthy happy English Bulldogs with great personalities. All breeding pairs are at least four generations separated. We follow the Genetic Bulldog Breeders Code of Ethics.

Line Breeding

Line breeding is practiced by most breeders and is the insestual breeding of dogs. Mother to son, father to daughter, most common is Grandfather to Granddaughter. This carries on and creates obvious health issues. To spot a line breeder look for pedigrees containing these names: Little Ponds .. Titus .. Newcomb .. Phoenix .. Cedarlane .. King Farook .. Cherokee ..

The largest line breeding institution in the World is the BCA: Bulldog Club of America. Their price range for a line bred BCA bulldog puppy is 2,500 to 5,000. They also specialize in selling 'Culls' or the puppies they do not want to keep. The good or champion quality dogs they will keep for themselves.

Puppy Mills Defined

People tend to think of puppy mills as places where hundreds of puppies are born, kept in filthy conditions, and then shipped out to the first available buyer. And often, that's the case. But whether a particular property is home to a few litters, or a few dozen litters, is a moot question. A puppy mill is any situation where the breeder cares more about the profit than the pup.

Pet stores often have dogs that come from puppy mills. Learn more about pet store doublespeak.
